A Wristband Coupling Microfluidics and MEMS Ultrasonic Transducers for Wearable Long-term Monitoring Application

This work develops and fabricates a wristband coupling microfluidics and MEMS ultrasonic transducers for convenient and continuous monitoring. Water serves as the coupling agent to eliminate the air layer between the wearable ultrasound transducer and the skin, thereby enhancing user comfort. Repeating the working procedure, multiple measurements can be carried out continuously to achieve long-term monitoring. Then, we conducted pulse-echo experiments by PMUT on artificial skin using the manufactured wristband, revealing that its application significantly improves ultrasound signal compared to direct transducer contact with the skin. Furthermore, validation of the wristband confirmed its capability for continuous measurement, establishing a foundation for wearable long-term monitoring.
