Spontaneous Polarization and Transverse Current in TGS
The magnitude of spontaneous polarization of glycine sulfate, a typical ferroelectric, decreases with the application of a transverse electric field over a long time. The quantitative relationship between the application time of the transverse electric field and the decrease in the magnitude of spontaneous polarization was unclear. By simultaneously measuring the magnitude of spontaneous polarization and the transverse current caused by the transverse electric field, it is clarified that the decrease in the magnitude of spontaneous polarization occurs due to the injection of charges carried by the current into the sample.
