A Biological Approach to Metalworking Based on Chitinous Colloids and Composites (Adv. Funct. Mater. 51/2024)
Chitinous Colloids In article number 2406800, Javier G. Fernandez and co-workers introduce a new fabrication paradigm enabling the production of metallic structures through internal aggregation using biological processes at ambient conditions, without heat or pressure. Its application is demonstrated, among others, in 3D printing and casting, enabling also the integration of metals with temperature-sensitive materials in an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient approach.
