Anterior Endolaser for Use With Flanged Intrascleral Haptic Fixation When Complicated by IOL Haptic Rotation or Dislocation
Purpose To describe a technique to address intraocular lens (IOL) complications associated with loss of haptic security at the optic–haptic junction. Methods Case series. Results The authors successfully used argon endolaser to secure the insertion and orientation of the haptics at the optic–haptic junction in three cases: one involving postoperative IOL tilt, the second as prophylaxis prior to performing intrascleral haptic fixation, and the third to stabilize the optic–haptic junction after spontaneous complete disinsertion followed by reinsertion of the dislocated haptic into the optic. Conclusions Argon endolaser may obviate the need for IOL exchange in certain cases of optic–haptic junction compromise in three-piece IOLs.
