How Supply Chain Resilience Supports Firm Performance in Face of Disruptions
The purpose of the present study is to understand how supply chain resilience (SCR) helps firms in face of disruptions. Few quantitative studies relate SCR to general firm performance, although the performance could be affected by different external factors. We argue that to get a better understanding, the links between SCR and firm performance need to be explored at the moment when a disruption occurs. Based on in-depth interviews with experts in the UK manufacturing industry, the study reveals how supply chain disruptions (SCDs) affect operational and reputational performance and how SCR may help contain their impact. The study provides suggestions for managers, enabling them to protect both operational and reputational performance.
