Inventory Operational Risk Analysis in Warehouses Spare Parts Using the FMEA Method
Customer satisfaction is a top priority for PT ABC Warehousing, which aims to balance demand and supply and is a critical component to achieving customer satisfaction and fulfilling material reservations. However, every production process generally has a chance of risk. In this case, there are still some reservations that cannot be fulfilled every month because the materials in the warehouse are not available. This study attempted to analyze the causative factors by collecting data related to operational processes and a list of possible risks. For the purpose of conducting the analysis, an evaluative descriptive analysis, an index calculation, and a risk evaluation utilizing the FMEA method were used. The study shows that 16 risk events occur in the company's operations, including people, machines, environmental, and money risks. Risk mostly comes from operational activities handled by human resources, such as data input errors and so on. Based on the assessment conducted, the risk with the most considerable RPN value is fluctuating material consumption, with a Priority Number (RPN) value of 72. This is due to the recording of material consumption data that is sometimes processed in parallel, namely the material being issued first and then the reservation being made afterward due to urgent conditions.
