Fuzzy Controller Tuning Methods for Typical Plant Types
This paper presents a contribution to fuzzy controller tuning. Fuzzy control is a control technology used in practice for years with excellent results thanks to their possible nonlinearity, which allows us to realize more complicated control strategies than classical PID controllers. This paper presents a new approach for fuzzy controller design and tuning based on a set of typical reactions. Its advantages are presented by comparison with a PID controller, tuned with the help of a standard tuning tool in a Matlab/Simulink environment. The set of typical plants from the area of agricultural application, including first-order plus time delay (FOPTD) and oscillating second-order plus time delay (SOPTD) plants was used to demonstrate the quality of fuzzy control with very good results.
