A Two-Stage rTMS Pulse Generation Circuit with High-Current and Low-Frequency

This article proposes a two-stage power converter with novel control methods for repeated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS). The first stage is a Series Resonant Converter (SRC), which changes the average current of its output by changing the switching frequency and is supplemented by a larger intermediate capacitor to achieve average power transmission, decrease the front-stage converter design capacity, and reduce the pulse impact of the input side. The second level is the pulse generation circuit of the multiplexing rTMS pulse generation circuit switch, which not only plays the role of pulse generation but also transmits the capacitor energy of the intermediate capacitor to the backward pulse generation circuit to compensate the loss of the circuit during operation, at the same time, using a dual coil coupling simulation scheme can effectively avoid the problem of parallel current sharing of multiple devices in high current situations. The circuit is controlled by the output capacitance voltage to ensure the stimulation intensity (current intensity) of the output pulse. Finally, an experimental prototype with a pulse magnetic stimulation frequency of 25Hz and pulse current peak value of 2000A was set up in the laboratory. The results showed the feasibility of the proposed circuit topology and control method. Finally, an experimental prototype with a pulse magnetic stimulation frequency of 25Hz and pulse current peak value of 1000A was set up in the laboratory. The results showed the feasibility of the proposed circuit topology and control method.
