Research on the PON Technology and Application for Government and Enterprise Private Line Services

PON networks have progressively established themselves as a preferred solution for government and enterprise customers, owing to their extensive coverage, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. Constructing a unified controller northbound interface models, which facilitates the East-West integration of PON access networks with OTN/IP transport networks, and the North-South alignment spanning from service acceptance to network configuration, is crucial for operators to achieve end-to-end provisioning of private line services across multi-domain networks. This paper first compares and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the existing government-enterprise private line technology. And then we briefly introduce the advantages of PON network. Meanwhile, this paper proposes a PON network management and orchestration architecture based on jointly managed OLT and ONU devices. The paper also demonstrates and verifies the end-to-end management capabilities of PON networks and the automated provisioning capabilities for Ethernet services. The demonstration results show that the end-to-end service orchestration system can achieve rapid automated provisioning of Ethernet services through the PON network controller.
