A Flow-Based Link Failure Recovery Algorithm for the Data Plane in SDN
Link failure recovery in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a critical issue for ensuring network reliability. This paper proposes an innovative link failure recovery algorithm based on traffic type. The algorithm categorizes data flows into delay-sensitive, bandwidth-sensitive, and other types, and employs different recovery strategies for each type. Delay-sensitive traffic utilizes an improved proactive failure recovery algorithm, assigning the same backup path for all delay-sensitive flows on the same link and marking this backup path for spatial compression. Bandwidth-sensitive traffic uses a proactive failure recovery algorithm, while other traffic employs a passive failure recovery algorithm. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, demonstrating superior performance metrics compared to traditional methods. This research provides a novel solution for link failure recovery in SDN networks, potentially improving network reliability and service quality.
