Lauric acid and its mixtures as chamber inhibitors of copper corrosion
The anticorrosive effect and mechanisms of copper chamber protection by lauric acid, octadecylamine, benzotriazole, urotropine and their mixtures have been studied. Binary mixtures of lauric acid with octadecylamine and benzotriazole were found to be effective chamber inhibitors. The protective after-effect of the mixtures exceeds those of the components, though the latter are antagonistic to each other. Copper protection by the above mixtures is due to the formation of nano-sized polymolecular adsorption surface layers that block the surface, passivate the metal, and stabilize its passive state.
