E.V. Vaskovsliy on the Main Principles of Legal Ethics
The article is devoted to E.V. Vaskovsky's views on the main principles of attorney ethic. As a result of the conducted research, the author concludes that E.V. Vaskovsky was one of the first legal scholars in Russia to attempt to develop and theoretically justify specific ethical rules for the legal practice. A key feature of his views in this area was determined by the fact that E.V. Vaskovsky considered the lawyer to be a representative of society in court. Consequently, he assigns to the lawyer the duty of making a moral assessment of the case and deciding whether to accept the assignment and continue with the case based on that assessment. The author used not only Russian-language works by E.V. Vaskovsky, but also those written in Polish, which have not yet been translated into Russian.
