Environmental management through tourism development based on communal intellectual property (case in the Bangka Belitung islands)

Abstract The tourism industry is currently one of the industries that has an important role in the national development of various countries. The Bangka Belitung Islands, with their natural beauty, have an attraction as a tourist destination. On the other hand, environmental damage is still a major problem in this area, especially due to tin mining. Tin mining, which has been going on for a long time and is massive, has also been destructive and will continue to threaten the survival of local plants and animals. In the context of intellectual property, this is what is called communal intellectual property, which in the tourism industry is one of the attractions, and this has not been developed in this area. This research uses empirical judicial methods, conducting a study of environmental regulations and management efforts through the development of the tourism sector based on communal intellectual property, namely those that are directly related to the local environment. From the results of studies that have been carried out, there has been no direct effort to make environmentally based communal intellectual property a major part of the development of the tourism sector in the Bangka Belitung Islands. The environment, in some cases, is indeed one of the bases, but no one has truly made communal intellectual property the epicenter, such as presenting local flora and fauna. In fact, apart from being attractive, this is also an effort to enforce law from an environmental aspect.
