Characterisation of samples from different meteorite classes using X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy

This study explores the use of X-Ray fluorescence (XRF) to differentiate between three major classes of meteorites: carbonaceous chondrites, ordinary chondrites, and achondrites. By analyzing the elemental composition of a diverse range of specimens, we demonstrate that XRF provides a consistent and replicable method to classify these meteorites. Our results reveal distinct elemental signatures for each class, allowing for reliable differentiation. This approach not only enhances our understanding of meteorite composition but also offers a practical tool for future research and classification efforts. Our findings underscore the potential of XRF as a standard method in meteoritic studies, contributing to more precise categorization and analysis.
