Broadband Silicon Photonics Mode-Division-Multiplexing Grating Coupler
By incorporating apodization and double-layer grating structures, a broadband silicon photonics Mode-Division-Multiplexing (MDM) grating coupler is successfully designed with a broad bandwidth of 62nm above 40% coupling efficiency for all three LP<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">01</inf>, LP<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11a</inf>, and LP<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11b</inf> modes of the few-mode fiber.
