DSERV: Home Service Booking System with Geolocation for Serviceable Area Detection

The study focused on setting up an appointment system with a home service provider and client and the use of geolocation. Cabuyao, Laguna, San Pedro, Laguna and Muntinlupa, Metro Manila was chosen to be the locale of the study. The system features functionalities such as creating a profile and posting of services, editing services, updating location, targeting specific clients and home service providers based on their location. For this study, the SCRUM model was chosen as the methodology for developing a web application for home service providers and clients in Cabuyao, San Pedro, and Muntinlupa. The SCRUM model is an iterative software engineering process commonly used in software development projects. The development process followed the Sprint phase, where time-boxed sprints were set to complete different modules of the system. Sprint planning involved discussing the scope of work and prioritizing tasks based on the product backlog. The sprint backlog was created to select tasks for each sprint, with a focus on designing a user-friendly interface. The study successfully achieved its objectives. The first objective, to create an on-demand service tool connecting home service providers with clients, received high satisfaction ratings from both parties. The second objective, to display service providers in the client's vicinity using the Openrouteservices API, also received positive feedback. The third objective, enabling service providers to schedule client appointments, was successfully implemented. Overall, this study aimed to develop a platform that enhances communication and engagement between service providers and clients, making it easier and more accessible for users in the home services sector. The web application developed through this study provides a practical solution to meet the demands of the on-demand economy in a post-pandemic world.
