Abstract Intimacy in friendship is one of the factors that influence self-disclosure in friendship relationships. Intimacy in friendship can provide interpersonal reciprocity, where individuals will share deeper emotions, be open, and respect each other. This study aims to determine the relationship between friendship intimacy and self-disclosure in new students. The population in the study was 2,828 new students of Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya in 2023. The sample in the study amounted to 250 new students with sampling techniques using non-probability sampling techniques, namely accidental sampling. This research instrument uses a friendship intimacy scale with aspects proposed by Sharabany (1994) and a self-disclosure scale with aspects proposed by Devito (2019). The method for data analysis used is Spearman Brown correlation with the help of IBM SPSS series 25 for windows. The results showed (rxy) = 0.782 with a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05). This means that the hypothesis in this study which assumes there is a positive relationship between friendship intimacy and self-disclosure in new students is accepted. This means that the higher the friendship intimacy between students, the higher the level of self-disclosure felt by students.
