Life Cycle Cost Evaluation of Hybrid Power System at Peak Load Scenario, Using War Strategy Optimization

This paper presents economic evaluation of hybrid power system (HPS) according to daily electrical load demand and the solar resource potential of two remotes communities (Alapa and Okolo) in Ibarapa local government in Oyo state, Nigeria. It employs an optimal sizing algorithm, War Strategy Optimization (WSO), in MATLAB 2021a environment and Hybrid Optimization Model for Energy Renewable (HOMER) as bench mark software for economic evaluation at peak load condition. Finding shows the estimated peak load consumption, daily load consumption and average annual solar irradiation of the village were determined to be 31kW, 311kWh/day and 14.23 kWh/m2 respectively. Also, the results of the Alapa and Okolo at peak load demand for WSO-HPS using LCC and LLP were ($195,958.99; 0.0000) and ($211,753.16 ;0.0000), respectively, while that of the HOMER-HPS were ($197,714.84;0.0009) and ($233,649.48; 0.0005). This showed the WSOHPS based to have reduced LCC and zero LLP that indicated that the load was fully met. This research has developed a WSO based HPS, for economic evaluation of HPS at zero loss of load probability. The WSO is applicable in design of off-grid hybrid power system
