Multi-Parameter Evaluation of Groundwater Contamination in Industrial Corridors: A Case Study of Heavy Metals and Water Quality Indices in Dholpur RIICO Area (Rajasthan)
: Industrialization has significantly influenced the groundwater resources in Rajasthan particularly in the Dholpur region, raising concerns about heavy metal pollution, salinity and other physicochemical properties that directly affect the environment and public health. This study focuses on assessing groundwater quality in RIICO Industrial Area of Dholpur District, Rajasthan, by evaluating Heavy Metal ions concentration such as Iron (Fe), Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Manganese (Mn), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Chromium(Cr) and Lead (Pb) and Mathematical parameters such as Aggressive Index (AI), Water Quality Index (WQI), % Sodium (%Na), Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) values which indicate that the groundwater of this industrial area is contaminated due to effect of industrial effluents across three year (Jan. 2021- Jan.2024). The results of this study reveals that the groundwater of this industrial area is not potable but it is useful for irrigation and domestic purposes with proper treatment before use. In addition, the results suggest that there is an urgent need for better effluent treatment systems and more stringent monitoring regimes in these industrial zones in order to protect groundwater resources and public health.
