Evaluation Of 1-Nesfatin Levels in Obese Individuals with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Mosul City

In this paper, I want to demonstrate what the goals of this research are and where it belongs to. NAFLD is an emerging pathological condition in the liver observed worldwide, associate with insulin resistance and obesity, and diet. Nesfatin-1 is one of new  peptides that  involved in feeding behavior. The purpose of this study evaluate the serum concentration of nesfatin-1 in people with non alcoholic fatty liver disease.Materials and Methods. This study enrolled 60 individuals with NAFLD and raised liver enzymes and 30 apparently healthy controls with matched age and sex. NAFLD was diagnosed and staged according to the method of examination – liver ultrasonography. Plasma nesfatin level was measured by an ELISA assay, and correlations between metabolic factors and nesfatin were analyzed. The subjects were categorized into three  groups based on their (BMI): more than 30 and subjects with a BMI of less than 30. We also compared the nesfatin-1 levels between the study  groups.Findings. NAFLD patients  were higher nesfatin-1 levels than those of the control group with a level of 32.90±7.3 ng/ml vs 18.07± 6.1 ng/ml p=0.005. A negative relationship was determined between nesfatin, the body mass index and glucose levels. Serum nesfatin-1 level in the OB group was significantly lower than in the non OB group (32.90±3.2 ng/ml) vs. (12.1±7 ng/ml); p = 0.004). Additionally, according to our results, nesfatin-1 levels in people with IR were significantly lower than those in people with normal insulin sensitivity (14.53±1,7 ng/ml vs 4,21±3,7 ng/ml; p = 0,009).In conclusion. In the present study, the analysis showed that nesfatin-1 level elevate in non alcoholic fatty liver disease patients. The findings of this study refers that nesfatin may had an important effect on NAFLD.
