AVALIAR A PRESENÇA DE SARCOPENIA EM PACIENTES COM PSORÍASE QUE NÃO APRESENTAM DIAGNÓSTICO SÍNDROME METABÓLICA ATENDIDOS NO SERVIÇO DE REFERÊNCIA DO HOSPITAL UNIVERSITÁRIO LAURO WANDERLEY
Introduction. Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory disease, whose patients are more likely to develop different multisystemic comorbidities. New emerging diseases seem to share inflammatory pathways and risk factors with psoriasis. There is a mutual correlation between metabolic syndrome with psoriasis and with sarcopenia, therefore, we suggested the possibility of a higher prevalence of sarcopenia in psoriatic patients. To analyze the correlation between these two pathologies in isolation, the potential influence of the metabolic syndrome in this work plan is avoided. Objective. To assess the presence of sarcopenia in patients with psoriasis who do not have a diagnosis of metabolic syndrome treated at the reference service of Hospital Universitário Lauro Wanderley. Methodology. Cross-sectional, descriptive study involving patients with psoriasis being followed up at the Reference Center for Support and Treatment of Psoriasis in the State of Paraíba (CRATP - PB), from August 2019 to May 2020. Data analysis was obtained from descriptive statistics. Results and discussion. The prevalence of sarcopenia in the general sample was 40%. Among men, 45.45%, and 34.78% in women. In the general population, it occurs in 14.2% in men and 22.1% in women. Metabolic syndrome did not occur in 66.67%. In this group, the frequency of sarcopenia was 46.67%, being higher than that of the group with metabolic syndrome (26.67%). In this work plan, sarcopenia occurred more in males, in the elderly, with a mean age of the sample of 57 years, a maximum of 77 years and a minimum of 27 years. Most had completed elementary and high school. Conclusion. The presence of sarcopenia was greater than in general population, predominating in the group without metabolic syndrome, in men and in the elderly. Thus, the importance of epidemiological information for the development of care plans and improvement of health services in the treatment of psoriasis and its emerging comorbidities is emphasized.
