The Current Situation of Domestic Wastewater Discharge in Rural Areas in China-A review

Abstract In recent years, with the development of the economy and the improvement of living standards in rural areas of China, the production of rural domestic sewage has increased sharply. However, the construction of sewage treatment facilities in rural areas lags behind, leading to a relatively low rate of rural domestic sewage treatment and highlighting ecological issues in rural areas. In order to govern rural domestic sewage in a targeted manner and improve treatment efficiency, it is necessary to conduct investigations on the water quality, water quantity, discharge patterns, and composition of pollutants of rural domestic sewage. This is to provide references for the selection of rural domestic sewage treatment technologies.
