Cover Feature: Simultaneous Hydrogenation of an Insulated Diarylacetylene Dimer Incorporated as Axle Molecules in a Cyclodextrin‐Based [c2]Daisy Chain Rotaxane (Chem. Eur. J. 70/2024)

The Cover Feature illustrates the possible synthetic routes for an “impossible” [c2]daisy chain rotaxane. The synthesis was achieved through simultaneous hydrogenation of both diarylacetylene moieties within a pre-prepared [c2]daisy chain rotaxane. This study demonstrates that the axle moieties of [c2]daisy chain rotaxanes can undergo chemical modification due to their expandable and contractible structural features, thereby advancing the development of functional interlocked molecules. Abstract

More information can be found in the Research Article by S. Tsuda, Y. Nishiyama and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202403523).
