Impact of the reforms to the federal labour law on academic workers in Mexico's public universities
Several of the laws that have been reformed recently seem to be aimed at the commercial or business sector, but do they have implications for academics? This paper presents a brief analysis of the implications for academic workers in Mexico's public universities of the laws that have been reformed, specifically: the reduction of the working day, the increase in the Christmas bonus, the Ley Silla, and the rights of unionisation and collective bargaining. As can be seen, these reforms, although designed to improve working conditions in general, have specific implications in the academic context of public universities
