Static Power Consumption Analysis for an Inertial Measurement Unit
This paper work is focused on an experimental power consumption analysis for an inertial measurement unit (IMU) embedded on an unmanned aerial vehicle aiming to get more detailed informations to choose the adequate battery type, quality and performance in order to complete a desired mission The inertial measurement unit developed accross this work is composed of three axes accelerometer, three axes gyroscope, global positionning system, barometer and 4G communication module. The experimental power calculation bench proposed in this work is aimed to collect data on the current and voltage consumption of each sensor embedded on the IMU, of microcontroller and all the supplement component mounted on the circuit for adaptation and functionning improvement of each sensor input/output. Results obtained along this study are very promoted and the procedure for calculation of the power consumption can be of interest for the inertial measurement developper community.
