Simultaneous Dual-Task and Brain Activity Evaluation
Continuous monitoring of a patient's health is a critical challenge in modern healthcare and has become a popular telehealth option. For neurodegenerative diseases, such monitoring is crucial for early detection and intervention. Technology plays an important role in healthcare by enabling earlier disease diagnosis and promoting healthy aging. Electroencephalography (EEG) is a low-cost, portable, and non-invasive technique that allows the study of brain function and physiological changes associated with neurodegenerative processes. Dual-task assessments provides valuable insights into the cognitive state of individuals. Both techniques are non-invasive and portable, making them highly accessible and practical. In this study, we developed and implemented a protocol for simultaneous dual-task and EEG assessment, combining cognitive tasks with motor tasks involving elbow flexion a nd e xtension. W e s imultaneously r ecorded EEG activity and kinematic variables of the movement and calculated the dual-task cost. Our findings show that this framework facilitated the acquisition of accurate and consistent data, allowing a description of the effects of dual-tasking on the measured variables.
