All-Dielectric Frequency Selective Surface Using 3D- Printable Material for Sub-THz Applications

This paper presents the design of all-dielectric frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) using 3D-printable materials for sub-terahertz (sub-THz) applications. Through a simulation-based study of FSS unit cells, this work investigates the effects of dimensional parameters and the selection of 3D-printable dielectric materials for the design of sub-THz FSS and highlights the key considerations for optimizing performance. Furthermore, the study culminates in the optimal design of an FSS-based band-stop filter unit cell utilizing a cyclic olefin copolymer with a stopband between 242 and 246 GHz. The results show the promising potential of employing 3D printing technologies to enhance the structural complexity of FSS, facilitate fabrication, and utilize cost-effective, eco-friendly materials.
