An Empirical Study on the Usability of Melden: A Crowdsourcing-Based Mobile Crime Reporting Application Using the PACMAD Model

This study evaluates the usability of the Melden mobile application, designed for crowdsourced crime reporting in the Philippines, using the PACMAD model. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to assess the application’s effectiveness, efficiency, learnability, and user satisfaction. Results indicate that Melden effectively streamlines the crime reporting process and improves responsiveness, though areas such as error handling and cognitive load require further refinement. The findings offer insights into optimizing the application for better public safety outcomes and contribute to the broader understanding of mobile application usability in crime reporting.
