Modelling and Stability Analysis of Dynamic Droop Controlled Microgrid based on Dynamic phasor
The most widely adapted technique for managing the parallel-operated inverters in microgrid applications is droop control. It is a plug-and-play control that doesn't need any kind of communication equipment. Nevertheless, in its traditional form, the droop controller's transient performance is subpar. Therefore, to offset this disadvantage, dynamic droop gains are included in addition to conventional droop. It will enhance system stability and function as a proportional derivative controller. This work develops a stability analysis and dynamic phasor-based modelling for a dynamic droop controlled microgrid system. By setting an appropriate control objective, particle swarm optimization is used to optimize the controller parameters. The characteristic equation is developed for both dynamic and conventional microgrid systems with droop control. The corresponding impulse response is plotted which will allows for the performance evaluation of the dynamic droop regulated microgrid systems. The improvement in stability depending on the eigenvalue location is demonstrated by the simulation results. Furthermore, there is a noticeable enhancement in both peak overshot and settling time performance.
