Sandwich structured PLA fabrics with high electromagnetic interference shielding and low reflection characteristics
• The MXene@Fe 3 O 4 /MXene/MXene@Fe 3 O 4 fabrics exhibit both high EMI SE and low R. • Fe 3 O 4 assembled by electrostatic forces on MXene brings more heterogeneous interfaces. • The EMI SE reaches to 62.8 dB when the 1M3F content is 10 wt%. • The 10-1M3F/M/10-1M3F fabric shows a low reflection coefficient of 0.34. • The sandwich-structured coatings prolong the transmission path of EM waves inside. Sandwich structured polylactic acid (PLA) fabrics with high electromagnetic interference shielding and low reflection characteristics were prepared using a simple dip coating and spraying method. The middle layer of the sandwich-structured coatings was uniformly dispersed with highly conductive MXene fillers, while the surface of the layered MXene was modified by CTAB and loaded with magnetic Fe 3 O 4 fillers through electrostatic assembly, which was then uniformly dispersed into waterborne polyurethane as the outer layer. MXene@Fe 3 O 4 improves the impedance matching in the outer layer, so that the fabric has high-efficiency magnetic loss and dielectric loss. The obtained 10-1M3F/MXene/10-1M3F fabric exhibited a high average EMI shielding efficiency of 62.8 dB and a low reflection coefficient (R) of 0.34 in the X-band frequency range, wihch has a high application prospect in next-generation wearable smart electronic devices.
