The purpose of the article is to determine the main and priority areas of research into the influence of modern innovation and investment processes on the reproduction of human resources in the new economy. In the works of foreign and Russian economists, starting from the 60s of the last century, this issue was raised and considered in a narrow aspect as an investment in the development of human capital. In this projection, the attention of economists was focused on a set of the most important aspects of financing a new quality of professional and qualification training of company employees, which was necessary to implement the ideas of the scientific and technological revolution of the post-war period and ensure a longer period of labor activity. The authors substantiate a broad approach to considering the impact of investment processes on the reproduction of human resources, which includes the role of innovation and investment processes at all stages of the reproduction of human potential. In this regard, research areas are highlighted that show the transformation of the social sphere, the content of labor, the structure of jobs as a material basis for the inclusion of an employee in the labor process, the sphere of consumption, the spatial boundaries of reproduction in the context of the contradictory unity of the processes of globalization and deglobalization, the foundations of state and corporate regulation. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the priority for investing in the formation of human resources is the innovative sector of the non-financial economy, the previous and present development of which ensured the transition to new technologies and the prevention of global economic collapse.
