Case report: Otomycosis due to Aspergillus nidulans

Otomycosis is a fungal infection affecting the external auditory canal, commonly caused by Aspergillus and Candida species. While Aspergillus niger is the most frequently identified species, is a rare causative agent. This case report details a rare instance of otomycosis caused by , emphasizing the diagnostic process and treatment. A 45-year-old female presented with a three-week history of itching, discharge, and discomfort in the right ear. Laboratory investigations confirmed as the causative agent through direct microscopy, LPCB mount, and fungal culture. The patient was treated with antifungal therapy, resulting in complete resolution of symptoms. This case highlights the need to consider in the diagnosis of otomycosis and underscores the importance of detailed mycological examination and appropriate antifungal therapy.
