The Essence of Manipulation in the Information Environment of Society

The article analyzes the essence of the concept of manipulation in the context of influencing society in the modern information space. In the course of the study, the criteria that form the basis of this concept are determined, the factors and features inherent in manipulation are highlighted. Additionally, the article provides a classification and signs of manipulative influence. Manipulation is considered successful when a change in the subject's perceptions, through purposeful influence on them, leads to a change in his behavior. Various types of communication act as a medium for manipulation. Mass media are the most effective means of manipulating mass consciousness in the modern information environment. Understanding the essence of manipulation allows not only to identify information of this kind, but also to more effectively counteract in this area at the state level.
