A INFLUÊNCIA DAS DIETAS HIPERPROTEICAS SOBRE A SAÚDE CARDIOVASCULAR E LONGEVIDADE: UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA.
The high-protein diet has become increasingly popular among individuals looking to improve their body composition and health. The considerable benefits of high-protein diets in terms of body composition, metabolic profile, immune system, disease prevention, among others, make them a key factor in different types of eating plans. However, there is growing interest in the scientific community about the possible risks and benefits of this dietary pattern, questioning its safety for the body, especially at a cardiovascular level. In this scenario, this monograph aimed to review the existing literature on different nutrition strategies using diets rich in proteins and their effects on markers of cardiovascular diseases and longevity in adults. A literature review was carried out in the PubMed, Lilacs, Medlina and Scielo databases. Empirical, quantitative studies published from 2014 to 2024 were included. For the selection, the descriptors and keywords were used: protein diet, cardiovascular disease, longevity. Thus, 12 articles were selected that met all the proposed final inclusion criteria. Different results using diets rich in proteins regarding cardiometabolic and cardiovascular markers were found in this review, divergences due to different studies, the type of protein source ingested, the quantity and quantity of calories contained in high-protein diets. It is concluded that there are different nutritional approaches in relation to high-protein diets and that their benefits and risks still need to be better scientifically elucidated, with more and more studies on the topic being necessary.
