The changes in the definition of the terms of roughness parameters Rz and Rmax are analyzed. Recommendations are given on the use of modified roughness parameters in production, the need to revise the ratios presented in GOST R 70117—2022 and develop guidelines for the implementation of changes No. 2 GOST 2789—73 and No. 1 GOST 25142—82 is justified.
