An empirical analysis of the synergistic development of port logistics and economy in Wuhu city based on the VAR model

Based on the statistical data of Wuhu City from 2005 to 2021, this paper explores whether there is an interactive relationshi p between the socio-economic development of Wuhu City and port logistics using the analysis results of vector autoregressive model, Granger causality test, impulse response, and variance decomposition. The study shows that there is a two-way causal relationship between Wuhu's economic growth and container cargo throughput, and among the two measures of port logistics, container cargo throughput promotes the city's economy to a more obvious extent and has a longer duration of action. In futur e development, Wuhu City can start from three aspects: promoting the integrated development of the port and city, accelerating the comprehensive strength of port logistics, and establishing a green and long-term development mechanism of port-city synergy to promote better and faster economic development.
