Research on the configuration of AS/RS warehouse system based on AGV transportation

Compared to traditional AS/RS warehousing systems that use conveyor belts or manual labor to transport goods in and out of storage, AS/RS warehousing systems that use AGVs for transport operations have advantages in high area utilization, work efficiency, and system flexibility. This article constructs an open queuing network model for AGV-AS/RS outbound operations, establishes performance analysis indicators for average service time of outbound orders, order queue length, and AGV utilization, and analyzes the impact of outbound temporary storage points and AGV configuration on the performance of AGV-AS/RS warehousing system under different order arrival rates. Through FlexSim simulation of the warehousing system, it was found that the accuracy of the established mathematical model for this warehousing system is greater than 85%, which verifies the effectiveness of the model. Finally, Comparative analysis shows that the storage system using AGV as a transportation tool has an average performance improvement of 30% compared to using forklifts.
