Liner wear of large-scale SAG mill Based on DEM analysis
Liner wear's critical role in semi-autogenous grinding mill design and maintenance is evident, with variable wear across distinct liner structures. Utilizing the discrete element method, we simulated large-scale SAG mill grinding, analyzed composite shell liner wear. Exploring five flat liner configurations’ effects on lifter wear, and three of them were further analyzed. The results showed that wear primarily occurs in grinding and cascading zones, notably higher in upper-left lifters than upper-right, 12.98mm difference. Flat liner structure significantly impacts liner wear rate, particularly during grinding and cascading zone operation. In comparison to YS liner, GJ1 and GJ2 experience 74.2zone and 16.7grinding operation. Furthermore, GJ1 results in a 46.7rate increase in the second wear zone during cascading operation. Considering flat liner structure, transition smoothing near lifter front reduces wear in first wear zone, while similar smoothing near rear increases wear in second wear zone. Convex peaks near lifter front reduce wear in second wear zone.
