PIN-photodiodes array for beam diagnostics in accelerators

Abstract Due to the specific features of their structure, PIN-photodiodes are responsive to charged particles and neutrons in addition to being sensitive to visible radiation, and can be used as detectors of neutron, proton and electron beams. In this work, a device consisting of 64 PIN-photodiodes with photodiodes spacing of 10 mm is presented. Preliminary inter-calibration of the photodiodes was performed using light irradiation at different intensities. The first experiments were performed on the electron beam of the AREAL accelerator at the beam exit from the vacuum chamber at different distances from the exit window. The obtained data were compared with the results of measurements by a reference dosimeter. The possibilities of using the proton beam facilities of the Cyclotron 18 accelerator were discussed.
