Investigation on airplane propulsion system's whole engine test plan
Engine tests carried out by propulsion designers include indoor tests, outdoor tests and flight tests. Meanwhile, test plan made by aircraft designer has system-level cross-linking laboratory tests, onboard function checking tests, ground tests and flight tests. Reasonable test plan should start from product requirements, complete verification work plan based on requirements, and out-put a list of test subjects for the whole engine. Functional and performance tests are applied first and then life and reliability related tests; also principles of lower risk test first and then higher risk one are followed. To improve test organization efficiency, the division of engines and modules can be carried out based on the test requirements of external conditions and configurations etc, and finally form the whole engine test plan during the whole product lifespan. Besides the product design, this plan is able to effectively support one engine test strategy, test bed resource requirement analysis, and other important technical plan during the development process, such as the whole engine weight reduction work plan and rig verification work plan.
