Material selection of heat storage bricks for high-temperature solid heat storage
With the core heat storage unit of a high-temperature solid heat storage as the study object, model effectiveness was verified using the experimental data of the heat storage. To provide data support for the heat storage brick material selection, three heat storage units were established, and their thermal performance during charge were analyzed. The results show that the generated model has satisfied effectiveness, the maximum difference of the generated simulation model is only 3.8%, confirming the applicability for subsequent simulation analysis. After 8h charge, when all bricks were MgO, there is a risk of melting in the heating wire. When all bricks were Al2O3, the average heat storage temperature of the unit is 50K lower than that of the unit with MgO-Al2O3 bricks. To ensure the heat storage with the maximum heat storage capacity, the MgO bricks and the Al2O3 bricks should be utilized together.
