Study on adsorption of nano-porous carbon materials

Two porous carbon materials are synthesized by adding different qualities of polyethyleneimine to chitosan. The results show that the addition of more polyethyleneimine (CM-5) has a larger surface area (959m2/g) and more nitrogen content (0.76at%) compared to the addition of less polyethyleneimine (CM-3). The morphology of the two carbon materials is similar to the close-packed morphology of grape clusters. The CO2 adsorption capacity of CM-5 (3.08mmol/g) and CM-3 (2.85mmol/g) is large, but that of CM-5 is larger, indicating that the specific surface area and nitrogen content have an impact on the adsorption performance.
