Environmental education for deaf people in special education: systematic review

Environmental education aimed at deaf students in special education is a subject that is little discussed. This work aimed to conduct a systematic review to identify scientific works that address the environmental education of deaf students in special education. Following the research question's methodology, define the search sources (CAPES Periodicals Portal and BDTD). In addition to defining the research period (2000 to 2022) and designating the search springs. To conclude, the exclusion and inclusion criteria were defined as Environmental Education approaches with deaf students from special schools or bilingual schools, inside or outside the school environment. As a result of the searches, 28 scientific articles were found on the CAPES Journal Portal, and 37 dissertations and theses on BDTD. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 1 article, 2 dissertations and 1 thesis were included. Coincidentally, all selected scientific work was carried out in the Southern Region of Brazil. The article addresses the perception of deaf students in non-formal spaces. One of the dissertations addresses a competition related to environmental education, and the other addresses the constitution of deaf identity articulated with the theory of the Three Ecologies. Finally, the thesis addresses Environmental Education for deaf people in the context of deaf culture. Considering the low number of discussions on this topic, new studies are needed that provide information on Environmental Education for people who are deaf or hard of hearing in Special Education.
