Rare Presentation of Chondroblastoma of the Patella, a Case Report
Case: Chondroblastoma, a rare benign bone tumor, often occurs in skeletally immature individuals, with patellar involvement in <2% of cases. We report a 14-year-old adolescent boy with anterior knee pain and a patellar chondroblastoma. Imaging revealed a radiolucent lesion, and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. Curettage and grafting led to pain resolution, full range of motion, and sports clearance at 6 months with no recurrence. Conclusion: Patellar chondroblastomas are exceptionally rare, usually arising in long bone epiphyses. Differential diagnosis includes Langerhans cell histiocytosis, giant cell tumors, and clear cell chondrosarcoma, requiring histological and imaging analysis. Recurrence risk mandates ongoing clinical and radiological monitoring.
