Comparative Study of Two and Three Level Inverter to Control Three-Phase Induction Machine Based on DTC

This study presents a design and interpretation of the Direct Torque Control (DTC) technology for controlling the induction motors(IM). The conventional form of this technology has several disadvantages. Power electronics presents greater flexibility in achieving the desired output power due to its numerous advantages. As a result, this study utilizes a three-level inverter with neutral clamping point (NPC) technology. The findings of this study indicated that using DTC technology with a three-level inverter gives less torque ripple, improvement of stator flux and reduces the harmonics in the stator current, preventing motor body vibration. In addition, comparisons between the two techniques were obtained using the MATLAB/Simulink environment in this study.
