SÍNDROME METABÓLICA NA MEDICINA DE FAMÍLIA E COMUNIDADE: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA SOBRE ESTRATÉGIAS DE DIAGNÓSTICO, MANEJO E PREVENÇÃO
Metabolic syndrome (MS), a set of risk factors that predispose to the development of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes, is an important public health problem. The objective of the study was to analyze the prevalence of MS in different populations and the prevention and management strategies adopted in clinical and community settings. The methodology used consisted of a systematic review of the literature, with the analysis of articles published in the last ten years, selected from scientific databases such as PubMed and Scopus, which addressed both the prevalence and interventions in the management of MS. The results indicated that MS is prevalent in different age groups, with emphasis on the adult population and the elderly, and that the most effective interventions involve lifestyle changes, such as balanced diets, increased physical activity and stress control. The discussion revealed that, although prevention and control strategies are widely recommended, adherence to these interventions is still limited due to factors such as lack of resources and knowledge about the disease. It is concluded that, for the effective control of metabolic syndrome, a continuous effort is necessary to implement public health policies that promote access to quality health care and encourage lifestyle changes, especially in primary health care settings, in addition to intensifying education and support for the population to improve adherence to preventive and therapeutic practices.
