Design of Saturated Core Fault Current Limiter for Integration of Electrical Power Supply
There was an issue with the PLN and Genset synchronization system in the XYZ Factory electrical power system. The two power sources could not be safely synchronized because the short circuit current value on the main bus during the power PLN and Genset electrical power synchronization exceeded the main bus's short circuit current capacity. This research solves the problems that occur by installing a limiting reactor. The approach method is carried out with the help of ETAP 19.0.1 software as a model of the factory electrical power system. This research begins by analyzing the value of the short circuit current on the main bus when the two power sources are synchronized, then looking for the reactance value of the short circuit current limiting reactor. Short circuit current limiting reactors can reduce short circuit current values with 3-phase fault types from 77.034 kA to 55.898 kA, Line to Ground fault types from 80.268 kA to 41.798 kA, Line to Line fault types from 67.326 kA to 48.41 kA, and Double Line to Ground fault type from 79.121 kA to 54.009 kA.
