Performance Evaluation of Natural Ester Oils as Sustainable Dielectric Fluids for Transformers: AI Enhanced Statistical Analysis

The demand for sustainable transformer insulation solutions has driven the investigation of natural ester oils (NEOs) as eco-friendly alternatives to conventional mineral oils (MOs). This study evaluates the dielectric performance of palm oil (PO) and rice bran oil (RBO), focusing on their viability as insulating fluids. Comprehensive statistical analysis, powered by an artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithm, was conducted on breakdown voltage (BDV) data obtained under controlled conditions. RBO demonstrated superior insulating properties with an average BDV of 88.06 kV, surpassing MO by 29%, while blends such as 0.5PO/0.5RBO achieved a balanced performance of 72.80 kV. These findings highlighted the potential of RBO and its blend with PO as sustainable, high-performance alternative to hydrocarbon-based insulating fluids. This research supports the integration of NEOs into transformer designs, paving the way for eco-friendly and reliable power systems.
