Analysis Of Nurses' Knowledge and Awareness of CT scan In the Management of Chronic Rhinosinusitis in Jazan General Hospital, Saudi Arabia, 2023.

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a prevalent condition characterized by prolonged inflammation of the sinuses, significantly impacting patients' quality of life.CT (computed tomography) scans are essential in diagnosing and managing CRS, guiding both medical and surgical interventions.Nurses play a pivotal role in patient care, making their knowledge and awareness of CT scans critical for effective management of CRS.Objective: This study aims to analyze the level of knowledge and awareness among nurses regarding the role of CT scans in the management of CRS, identifying gaps and potential areas for improvement. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among nurses working at Jazan General Hospital. The survey assessed nurses' understanding of the indications for CT scans in CRS, their ability to interpret CT scan results, and their role in patient education and advocacy.Statistical analysis was performed to identify knowledge gaps and factors influencing awareness levels. Results: The analysis revealed that while most nurses have a basic understanding of the role of CT scans in CRS management, there are significant gaps in detailed knowledge, particularly regarding specific indications for imaging and interpretation of results. The study highlights the varying levels of knowledge and awareness among nurses regarding the use of CT scans in managing chronic rhinosinusitis. While a significant proportion of nurses demonstrated high competence in certain areas, there are evident gaps, particularly in formal training and continuous education.Addressing these gaps through enhanced training programs and collaborative efforts can improve the overall quality of care for patients with CRS Conclusion: The study highlights the need for targeted educational programs and enhanced interprofessional collaboration to improve nurses' knowledge and awareness of CT scans in the management of CRS.Addressing these gaps can lead to better patient outcomes, more effective use of diagnostic imaging, and improved patient satisfaction.Continuing education and updated clinical guidelines are essential to equip nurses with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage CRS.
