Coupling Characteristics of the Spatial Distribution between Bike-Sharing Trips and Points of Interest
Bike-sharing (BS) offers an eco-friendly transportation option, particularly for short-distance travel. The spatial correlations between BS trips and various points of interest (POIs) show heterogeneity in both space and time. Understanding this heterogeneity is essential for comprehending the characteristics and factors influencing BS trips, as well as for facilitating more accurate BS management strategies. A new spatial statistic, the coupling index, is introduced to quantify the spatial correlation intensity between BS trips and various POIs across regions and time. This index is utilized as a weighting indicator in a generalized additive model to remove the effect of spatial heterogeneity. A case study in Shanghai calculates the coupling index to analyze the spatial correlation between BS trips and POIs to formulate effective management strategies.
